The aim of our CPR and AED Course is to provide you with the basic techniques of CPR, teach you how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and train in relief of choking for adults, children and infants.

Who should attend?

The course is for everyone who wishes to learn CPR and AED use, but not for regular use. Training recommendation for: Healthcare Assistants, Dental Nurses, Medical Secretaries, Sport Coaches, Teachers and Parents.

Delivery

The Heartsaver AED course follows a practice-while-watching video format and is led by instructors who will provide feedback and guide you through the lessons and help improve your CPR technique as you practice on a manikin.

Assessment

Students will be presented with a complete CPR & AED scenario to which they must respond. Students must successfully complete all necessary steps to pass the course.  

Requirements

Students should be physically fit enough to carry out chest compression on a manikin while kneeling. It is a requirement that students demonstrate effective CPR techniques during the class.

Renewal

In order to maintain you qualification after your two-year certification period you will be required to undertake the course again. There is no refresher training for people who currently have an in-date certificate.

Time

It usually takes 2-3 hours to complete, depending on the modules undertaken and the number of students attending.

Certification

On completion of this course, participants will be issued with Card Certificate valid for 2 years, certified by both the Irish Heart Foundation & American Heart Association recognized internationally.
